How to Add a Picture to an Already-Made Frame

At Frame Center, we love sharing tips to help you tackle framing projects like a pro. Whether you’re working with us one-on-one or learning through our video tutorials, we aim to make the framing process as simple and enjoyable as possible.

In this guide, we’ll walk you through the steps of adding an image to a pre-made frame—perfect for those who have picked up a frame from our second floor. With just a few tools and a little care, you’ll have your photo or artwork framed in no time.

What You’ll Need

Before you start, gather these simple supplies:

  • A flathead screwdriver
  • Alcohol wipes
  • A box cutter

Step 1: Open the Frame

Use the flathead screwdriver to carefully lift the flex points on the back of the frame. These are the small metal tabs that hold everything in place. Gently push them upward until you can remove the backing and glass.

Step 2: Clean the Glass

Using an alcohol wipe, clean the glass thoroughly to remove any dust, fingerprints, or smudges. Let the glass dry completely before moving to the next step. This ensures that no streaks or moisture affect your artwork.

Step 3: Position Your Image

Place your photo or artwork face-up on the backing of the frame. Make sure it’s properly centered and aligned for the best display.

Step 4: Reassemble the Frame

Once your image is in place:

  • Carefully position the cleaned glass over your artwork.
  • Place the frame backing on top of the glass and artwork.
  • Use the flathead screwdriver to gently push the flex points back down, locking everything securely into place.

And You’re Done!

In just a few easy steps, your frame is ready to display! Whether it’s a cherished photo, a piece of art, or a meaningful memento, adding your image to a pre-made frame is a quick and rewarding project.
